Jason and Victoria's Maternity Session | Maryland & Virginia Photographer

I absolutely love everything about Jason and Victoria's maternity session.  These parents looked amazing and even though it was strangely cold and windy this May they powered through.  The sun even cooperated towards the end and brought a little extra warmth to the photos.  I can't wait to meet their little babe.  We have a fresh 48 and newborn session on the books so lots of sweet little baby photos coming very soon.

An Antebellum Vow Renewal | Virginia Photographer

I was asked to come to the Belle Grove Plantation's Annual Civil War Weekend to photograph a special Antebellum themed vow renewal for the wonderful owners, Michelle and Brett.  I first met Michelle and Brett while planning my wedding and discovering the amazing Belle Grove Plantation (birthplace of President James Madison) on a tour of potential venues.  Just driving up the drive lined with trees and seeing the riverfront plantation house was enough....decision made.  While planning the wedding as odds would have it we also ended up buying a house right next to the plantation.  So by the time our wedding was here we were literally getting married at the neighbors.  If you ever have the oppurtunity to stay at Belle Grove you have to do it.  The house is as beautiful, if not more beautiful, than the grounds.  The rooms are stunning and oh my gosh the bathrooms...clawfoot tubs ladies, clawfoot tubs.  Did I mention that Michelle is an accomplished chef as well.  She makes some seriously amazing breakfasts and you will feel so at home, you don't want to go home.

Anyways let me say what an honor this was to photograph Michelle and Brett's vow renewal.  They are the nicest people and it was just so full circle.  The maid of honor was even the officiant at my own wedding.  Such a cool thing to get to now play a role in their own ceremony.  So without further ado...the photos....

Ok so I'll admit to giggling while I was taking this one.  Everyone was sort of "off-duty" at this point with their reenacting.  We were all waiting on the ceremony to start and just hanging out on the bluff.  So out came the cell phones and cameras and I just had to catch this little scene right here.  Then after putting my normal edit on it I just knew it needed an old timey edit too.  It just made me giggle a little more :)
 It's ceremony time!!!!

Michelle had her dress custom made to resemble the dress in this painting of Loiuse Corcoran Eustis, which hangs at Oatlands in Leesburg, VA

and that's a wrap on a beautiful Antebellum wedding.

A Spring Family Session | Southern Maryland Family Photographer

After all the rain we were having I was almost giddy driving to this sunshine filled family session.  It's amazing what a little sunshine and warm weather can do for your spirits.  We couldn't have asked for a better session.  It was quiet, peaceful, and just warm enough without being so warm you sweat your make up off.  If you're not a female and you can't relate, that's the kind of hot where it's hard to breath and your clothes literally stick to you.  I'm not exactly excited for that kind of warm but I am ready for this rain to go.  Enough about the weather though,  how about some beautiful images.

A Southern Maryland Bridal Shower | Charles County Maryland Photographer

Ohmygosh, y'all, can I just say how fun it is to document showers.  I get to capture the details...I just love details!!!  I'm always looking for a few little kiddos in the crowd to capture, because well, they are just so fun to work with.  The food...ahh, the food...there are always amazing spreads.  The guests, the gifts....it's just all so fun.  This group was so laid back and awesome.  The even did something so fun when they opened the gifts.  Yes THEY opened the gifts.  Instead of having the bride be on the spot the WHOLE time, they have each guest grab a gift, introduce themselves, how they know the bride/groom, and then open the gift.  The wedding is going to be an intimate wedding on the beautiful beaches of North Carolina so this was a great way to get to know each other.  I am so grateful to have been allowed in to document their memories....Cheers!!  to making memories!!

Pay it Forward and Nominate a Mom | Maryland and Virginia Family Photographer

I am a part of a wonderful group of photographers.  Yesterday within this group there was a wide spread pay it forward (PIF) movement.  It inspired me to PIF here on a local basis and since it's almost Mother's Day, what better way to PIF than to give a deserving Mama out there a session with her mini's...even if those mini's are fully grown and possibly have mini's of their own.

Here are a few simple rules....

-->The Mama nominated and her cubs (of whatever age they may be) must be available for
their session before July 31, 2016
-->You can nominate any Mama but please don't nominate yourself.  The idea here is to PIF so
do so by nominating someone that inspires you.
-->The Mama and her children must all be available to meet at a location in either Charles County
Maryland or King George County Virginia.
-->The gifted session is non-transferable.  If the nominee opts out of the session I will pick a
new name from the original list of nominees.

How to Enter...

-->Email your nominations to amanda@amandadayphotography.com Please include your name,
the name of your nominee, a little bit about the nominee, and why you are nominating them.
-->You may nominate more than one person but please use a separate email for each nominee.
-->Nominees must be in by Midnight EST on Friday May 6, 2016

How the winner will be chosen...

-->I will be using random.org to select a winner from the list of nominees I receive.
-->The winner will be announced on FB and IG on Saturday May 7, 2016

What exactly does the winner get....

-->The nominee that is chosen will receive  a complimentary session with her and her children.
The winner will also receive all edited images from the session.  No purchases will be
necessary.  All I ask is that the Mom chosen finds some way to pay it forward in the future.

Time to nominate....please spread the word and lets see how many wonderful Mom's we can get nominated.  Let's spread some good karma!!
